Danville Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred Monday afternoon on Sycamore Valley Road at Brookside Drive.
Lt. Jeff Moule said the incident occurred at 4:18 p.m. Monday. A vehicle being driven by a 32-year-old Walnut Creek resident was heading westbound on Sycamore Valley Road when it collided with a vehicle traveling southbound on Brookside Dr. The vehicle struck the driver's side of the auto, killing the driver, Elham Pirdavari, 51, of Danville. Pirdavari's 72-year-old mother, Danville resident Mahim Dokht, was a passenger in the car and was critically injured in the crash.
Pirdavari was pronounced dead at the scene by San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District emergency personnel.
Life Flight medical helicopters were landed at the Park and Ride facility off of Sycamore Valley Road and transported the two injured individuals to area trauma centers. Harris was taken to Eden Valley Medical Center in Castro Valley and Dokht was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.
As a result of the accident, Sycamore Valley Road was closed in both directions from Camino Ramon to Old Camino Tassajara. Police completed their investigation and reopened the road to traffic at midnight.
