A 72-year-old woman died of her injuries Sunday night after she was struck on Bollinger Canyon Road at Canyon Lakes Drive in San Ramon by a red Ford Explorer, which left the scene. A San Ramon man has been arrested on charges of hit-and-run resulting in death and vehicular manslaughter.
San Ramon Police Department responded to calls about the incident at 7:08 p.m. The woman received treatment at the scene, then was flown by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center. At just after 10 p.m. she died as a result of her injuries.
Police talked to numerous witnesses who described the vehicle, which was located shortly after the incident. Its driver of the vehicle, Justin Stubblefield, 31, of San Ramon, was positively identified as the driver of the vehicle that struck the woman.
Stubblefield was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, hit-and-run resulting in death, vehicular manslaughter, and probation violation. He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for burglary.
