San Ramon Valley students submitted their eco art o the 2013 Earth Day Student Art Poster Contest & Art Show, held April 20 in Danville. Sustainable Danville Area, which sponsored the contest, received over 150 entries of original, unframed, two dimensional works of art.
Art from various found and recycled media depicted the importance of sustainable practices to support a healthy quality of life. Mayor Newell Arnerich and members of the town's Art Commission met to judge the entrants and they were very impressed by the entries, said Sustainable Danville's Cynthia Ruzzi. Mayor Arnerich decided to present a special mayor's award to Miranda Allinson, a San Ramon Valley High student, forr her entry. Sustainable Danville Area award went to Elizabeth Baena Diablo Vista Middle School.
Projects were judged in the following categories: kindergarten, grades 1-3, grades 4-5, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12. Below is a list of winners.
