Police in Pleasanton have arrested a 19-year-old man who allegedly hit another man with his car following an argument in a mall parking lot on Friday and are asking anyone who saw the incident to contact them.
Officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in a parking lot at Stoneridge Shopping Center at about 5:20 p.m., Pleasanton police said.
Witnesses apparently followed the suspect vehicle -- a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado - as it fled the scene after the collision, police said.
Officers tracked down the vehicle on Dublin Boulevard and detained the driver, Dublin resident Frank Gallant.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Gallant and the victim, a 28-year-old man, had an altercation in the parking lot, according to reports. As the victim was walking away on a sidewalk near J.C. Penney, Gallant allegedly got into his vehicle and ran him down, police said.
The victim suffered a concussion and abrasions and was taken to a local hospital.
Gallant was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
Anyone who might have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Pleasanton Police Department at 931-5100.
