Two Danville police officers received special recognition from state officials this week for lifesaving efforts in the field last year.
Officers Kimberly Cogo and Jamie Williams met Wednesday with California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris, who presented the pair with the Peace Officer Certificate of Commendation for Superior Effort for their actions during a medical emergency in September 2012.
Cogo and Williams responded to a Danville home that day to find a man unconscious and unresponsive, according to Danville public information coordinator Geoff Gillette. The tandem successfully revived the man, helping save his life.
"This wonderful example of service is indicative of the character and work ethic displayed by officers Cogo and Williams on a daily basis," Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins said. "Both officers are tremendous assets to our community and play a major role on our team."
