SRVUSD students warned about cell phone thefts
Young people have been hearing from their parents forever-- don't talk to strangers. Now, there's a new reason not to: cell phone thefts. The San Ramon Valley Unified School District has issued a warning to students based on incidents that happened recently at Dublin High.

Celebrate those who served at annual Memorial Day celebration
Those who gave their lives serving their country will be honored Monday morning at Oak Hill Park in Danville. The annual Memorial Day celebration will feature live music, entertainment and a special ceremony including guest speakers and tributes to past and present service members. The event begins at 10:30 a.m.

Software engineer gets 7-year sentence for stabbing death in downtown Livermore
A Livermore software engineer was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in state prison for his voluntary manslaughter conviction for the stabbing
death of another man in a road rage incident in Livermore two years ago.

Employees at San Ramon company search for missing co-worker
Beau Rasmussen became separated from his friends around noon, and about eight hours later, his belongings were found by a passerby on Ocean Beach. Rasmussen works at San Ramon-based EDF Renewable Energy, which closed its office Monday and Tuesday while co-workers searched for the 27-year-old.

Board of Supervisors respond to draft Plan Bay Area concept
Contra Costa County's Board of Supervisors believe the draft Plan Bay Area is a good first step in setting regional goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to a letter addressed to the Association of Bay Area Governments and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. Three arrested in connection with residential burglaries
Three people were arrested Tuesday morning on burglary charges after reports of suspicious activity on Oleaster Drive. San Ramon Police Sgt. Cary Goldberg said the three were associated with a half dozen local burglaries as well as others that occurred throughout Contra Costa County.

Former Contra Costa narcotics task force head sentenced to 14 years
Former Contra Costa County drug task force commander Norman Wielsch was sentenced to 14 years in prison for his role in a police corruption case that scandalized the Bay Area. Wielsch admitted to committing a series of crimes between 2009 and 2011 that included stealing marijuana and methamphetamine seized during raids and selling the drugs.

Unemployment rates keep dropping in Bay Area, state
The California unemployment rate fell to 9.0 percent in April, down from 9.4 percent in March and well below a year ago when it stood at 10.7 percent, according to the California Employment Development Department.

Cyclists will race through town on Saturday, May 18 in the seventh stage of the race from Livermore to Mt. Diablo State Park. SRVUSD will receive one-time windfall from state

SummerHill Homes project moves to next stage of development
In a 5-1 vote, with Commissioner Paul Radich opposing, the Commission approved the Magee Ranch/SummerHill Homes project --a 410-acre development at the southeast corner of Diablo and McCauley roads. The development and its associated environmental impact report (EIR) will now be heard by the Town Council, which will conduct its own set of public hearings.

Residents walk to honor veterans

San Ramon man gets 15 years for distributing child pornography
A San Ramon man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for distribution of child pornography. Clyde Craig, 56, pleaded guilty in January. In a plea agreement, Craig admitted he used the Internet to distribute images and videos of minors.
