Traffic slowed by major-injury crash on I-680

Traffic was briefly slowed on Interstate Highway 680 in Alamo this morning by a major-injury crash that blocked two lanes, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The two-car crash happened at about 9:30 a.m. just north of Livorna Road, Officer Kevin Bartlett said.
The CHP issued a Sig-alert at about 9:50 a.m. because the crash blocked the two rightmost lanes. The alert was canceled at 10:17 a.m.

In the old paper days, a news article could say such-and-such is happening today and everyone knew what it meant. That day's paper was then tossed or used a bird cage liner. The reference to "today" was tossed out with the paper.
However, now when the Danville Express uses the term "today" in an article, the article persists and is available on-line for several weeks. Therefore "today" as used in the article loses all meaning.
I've mentioned this before, but I guess old (and confusing) journalistic habits die hard.
