San Ramon doctor gets probation for insurance fraud

A San Leandro-based family practitioner will be on probation for five years after pleading guilty to insurance fraud, according to reports.
Naim Katiby, a San Ramon resident, was placed on probation Wednesday after admitting to a single count of fraud for billing a fake doctor's visit, Alameda County prosecutors said. Katiby also prescribed Vicodin to an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent without an exam.
The 62-year-old will also be subject to searches at any time and is expected to be fined for his actions. Additionally, the California Attorney General's Office has the authority to revoke Katiby's medical license.
