Danville to host Memorial Day Ceremony

Follow the American flags on Stone Valley Road to Oak Hill Park on Monday morning to find live music, entertainment and a special Memorial Day Ceremony to honor and remember our fallen veterans.

The event, being held at the All Wars Memorial, will include guest speakers and tributes to past and present service members. It will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Everything is invited to come to the patriotic and educational tribute with family and friends and to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy afterward.

About 600 people attended the event last year, which is organized by the Vietnam Veterans of Diablo Valley (VNDV) and the All Wars Memorial Foundation. It featured the Danville Community Band as well as a color guard and fly-over by a P-51 Mustang and C-5 Galaxy.

"The meaning of Memorial Day is to rededicate ourselves to freedom's cause," Ret. Major Gen. Ronald Lowe said to the crowd during his tribute speech. "Our nation is free because of veterans like these who volunteered to face our adversaries abroad so we would not have to face them here."

Oak Hill Park is located at 3005 Stone Valley Road.

This community celebration of our veterans is one of the finest in the entire area. I'm glad "Everything" is invited as well?
