San Ramon police arrested a second suspect this afternoon in the attempted robbery of the Gold N Treasures store Wednesday.

Krishneel Prasad, 19, was taken into custody near his residence in Hayward at 1:15 p.m. today, police said this evening. He was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on charges that include robbery, conspiracy, and false imprisonment. His bail was set at $300,000.

Two suspects remain at large.

The four men attempted to rob the jewelry store at 2550 San Ramon Valley Blvd. around 4:30 p.m. May 30. The victims and witnesses reported that four suspects entered the store, said police; at least one of them was armed with a handgun.

Store personnel and a customer were present at the time of the robbery, according to police reports, and during the robbery, a victim armed himself with a handgun and shot the armed suspect, who was identified as Kibrom Bairu, 18, a Hayward resident.

The suspects fled from the store, and suspect Bairu collapsed on San Ramon Valley Boulevard in front of the store, police said. He was arrested by arriving officers and transported to San Ramon Valley Regional Medical Center by ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead.

The three suspects fled in a mid-90s white sedan.
