No transbay BART service this morning
Multiple structure fire near West Oakland station closes tracks
|
BART is expecting to have no transbay service between Oakland and San Francisco this morning due to a three-alarm fire involving multiple structures still burning near the West Oakland BART station this morning, officials said.
BART tracks have been shut down between the West Oakland BART station and the 12th Street Oakland station, and BART officials are seeking to set up an alternative bus route, but no route has been established as of 4 a.m. this morning, according to BART officials.
The fire, near the corner of Seventh Street and Mandela Parkway was first reported at 2:15 a.m., a fire dispatcher said.
Flames spread to neighboring buildings, lampposts and elevated BART tracks, leading firefighters to shut down power to the tracks, fire officials said.
Multiple agencies have responded, and a California Highway Patrol helicopter is providing aerial support.— Bay City News Service Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
