Fire crews are gaining the upper hand on a two-alarm blaze that is burning trees, shrubs and dry grass near Arbolado Park in Walnut Creek, a
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District official said.

The fire was reported just before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Pazzi and Valley Vista roads, Fire Marshal Lewis Broschard said.

Fire officials upgraded the blaze to a second alarm since the fire was burning near numerous homes, Broschard said.

Crews were getting control of the blaze as of 3:40 p.m.
