Fare increases begin at BART, several other transit agencies
BART increase is about 1.4 percent, or about 5 cents for average fare

Commuters will find today that a number of Bay Area transit agencies have increased their fares.
In San Francisco, adult fast passes increased $2 to $74 a month, and Muni-only passes are now $64. Passes for youth, seniors and disabled riders also increased by $1, to $22.
BART fares increased 1.4 percent, or about 5 cents for the average fare, according to BART officials.
Golden Gate Transit bus and ferry fares were raised by 5 percent.
On Caltrain, prices increased for people buying paper tickets, 25 cents for a one-way ticket and 50 cents for a Day Pass.
In addition, the discount for eight-ride tickets was reduced from 15 percent off the one-way fare to 7.5 percent. The validity period of the tickets also was cut in half, to 30 days.
