Tri-Valley Babe Ruth all-stars triumph

The Tri-Valley Babe Ruth 13-year-old all-star team is rocketing through the Northern California tournament after beating East Sacramento 6-2 in the opening round on Saturday, July 14.

James Cowick hurled six solid innings of three-hit ball for the win and struck out 11. TVBR trailed 1-0 after the third inning and tied the game with a clutch two-out two-strike single by Jack Maloon. Jack Morgan led off the inning with a single, stole second and scored on the single.

Tri-Valley Babe Ruth white-knuckled it through and entered the top of the 7th tied 1-1. Pinch hitter Dante Albanese, tripled to deep left center on the first pitch to score Fryer. Dante scored on a wild pitch during a safety squeeze to make it 3-1. James stole second after re-entering the game and scored along with Morgan on a first-pitch bolt to center by Saiki Roy to make it 6-1. Roy hosed two runners on the bases and TVBR played excellent defense, picking off two runners. Bowman closed out the game in the seventh, entering the game with runners on first and second.

On Sunday July 15th, the Tri-Valley Babe Ruths beat Oakland Babe Ruth in the second round of the tournament 12-2 in six innings. Joshua Ott pitched four solid innings, while Ryan Bowman and Jack Maloon closed out the game. TVBR laced 16 hits, scoring in every inning. Leading 5-2, entering the fifth inning, TVBR exploded for five in the fifth and then added two runs in the sixth. TVBR knocked in half of their runs with clutch two-out hitting.

The Tri-Valley Babe Ruth 13YO All-Star team advanced to the Northern California Championship game Tuesday night in Woodland by beating Bel Mateo Babe Ruths 11-3 in a game ending at 11:30 p.m. Darroch Koel hurled six innings of 6-hit ball and Josh Ott closed out the game striking out the side in the seventh.

Saiki Roy led the attack going 3-4 with two monstrous doubles and four RBIs. Koel, Dante Albanese, Jack Morgan, Jack Maloon, James Cowick, Jack Fryer, Ryan Bowman and Nicholas Venezia also contributed hits.

The TVBR will play Thursday July 19th at 5PM against the winner of Wednesday's loser's bracket game between Bel Mateo and Oakland for the rights to move onto the regional championships in Surprise, Ariz. beginning July 30th.
