Man arrested after allegedly abusing juveniles
|
Dublin police arrested a man Sunday after San Ramon police notified the department that the man had possibly been involved in the child abuse of a 16-year-old victim.
Dublin police arrested Hyunwoo Lee, 34, of Dublin, Sunday night after he admitted to physically abusing a juvenile, according to police.
Lee, a self-employed tutor, reportedly housed teenagers from South Korea on student VISAs that wanted to study in America, according to police.
The investigation revealed Lee physically assaulted the victim with a stick while forcing other students to watch -- and sometimes
participate, police said.
Police said Lee may have been involved in multiple acts of violence in both Dublin and San Ramon between 2011 and 2012.
Lee was booked into Santa Rita Jail and charged with two felony counts of child abuse and one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon,
Alameda County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Teresa Drenick said.
Lee was arraigned on Tuesday, and is set to make a plea at the Glea-Schenome Hall of Justice in Pleasanton on Friday at 9 a.m.— Bay City News Service Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

Posted by Cass, a resident of the San Ramon neighborhood, on Sep 2, 2012 at 7:02 am Is it common for students from other countries to live in a "host" home here? Is that part of the explanation for the over crowding of many of the Dougherty Valley schools in the past 10 years? So many students were diverted to other schools from Coyote Creek and no one was really sure where all of the students were coming from. Wonder if there are other examples of homes with multiple students in the area?
I am glad this guy was turned in for abusing his tenants. I feel sorry for them!

So this fellow has students for South Korea come to the US on student visas to attend high school in our districts displacing those who really live here. There is the scam and no one seems to be able to do anything about it.
