Three lanes closed on southbound I-680 after fatality

Bookmark and Share
Several lanes of northbound Interstate Highway 680 in unincorporated Walnut Creek were closed for about two and a half hours Tuesday morning after someone jumped from a highway overpass.

Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a man on the edge of the Treat Boulevard overpass at about 9:15 a.m., sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

The man, whose name has not been released, leaped to his death, falling onto the highway, Lee said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Three lanes were closed as emergency crews responded, he said.

As of 11:40 a.m., all lanes were back open, California Highway Patrol Officer Scott Cakebread said.

No one proofs things anymore. Headline says Southbound body of article says Northbound or was it both?

Well I see getting shot on the freeway will result in an 8 hour shut down of all lanes.

Jump off an over-pass and get killed will shut down the freeway for 145 minutes.

Interesting...

Thanks for listening, Julia Pardini from Alamo

At Julie -- obviously the investigations were totally different. Every spent shell needed to be accounted for in the shooting. There is a difference between murder of a police officer and a obvious suicide.

There are five sentences in this story. Four of the five end with the word “said”. What member of the clean-up crew wrote this one? Terrible composition.

Well, that makes a little better, I guess
