Thousands of residents donned their running shoes for the 29th annual Primo's Run for Education on Oct. 14. This year's run involved nearly thousands of runners, walkers and volunteers who helped raise funds for the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation.

"More than 9,000 registered runners this year came out to share their enthusiasm for our wonderful schools," the Primo's site states.

Walnut Creek resident Tommy Greenless, 30, took first place in the 5K race at a pace of 4:49 per mile. Hayward resident Ivan Medina, 26, placed second in the half marathon at five and a half minutes per mile. Forward Motion Race Club finished first in the half marathon five-person team races.

This is a great family event.

Thank you, Primos!

I agree!

Please note that the race is organized by the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation and benefits our district schools through SRVEF grants.

Decades ago the races were from Primo's Danville to Primo's San Ramon, hence the name. Primo's continues to be one of our larger sponsors.
