Danville GOP candidate trails Feinstein in Senate race

Danville resident and Republican candidate Elizabeth Emken is approximately 30 percent behind in the race for the Senate seat currently held by Dianne Feinstein.
The 48-year-old former IBM efficiency expert held 69,492 votes, or 31.4 percent, against Feinstein's 68.59 percent at midnight on Nov. 7; 483 of 834 precincts had reported as of press time. Although Feinstein appears to be on her way to another term, Emken's communications manager said she was looking toward the future.
"(Emken) is very optimistic about continuing her fight to help California families and their future," said Mark Standiff. "It's extraordinary that she ran a truly grassroots campaign and extraordinary that she was able to stay within 20 points of a well known candidate."
Emken is a professional advocate for children with autism, most recently serving vice president of governmental relations for Autism Speaks, a national nonprofit organization that calls itself the largest autism advocacy group in the U.S. She lives in Danville with her husband of 25 years, Craig Swartz,a Global Enterprise Solution Architect at Dell. The couple has two daughters and a 19-year old- son, Alex, who has autism spectrum disorder.
Emken ran for Congress in 2010 but lost the Republican primary to San Ramon resident David Harmer, who, in turn, lost to Jerry McNerney.Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

What delusion this women lives in I have no idea but perhaps she should move to the land of Michelle Bachman if she really wants to be in office.

Farmer Dave is a member (registered user) of Danville Express So Patricia, you are not only a sore loser but you also "can't wait" for more unemployment pain for America.
That could still happen if the intransigent House Republicans (with a smaller majority) succeed in blocking a solution to the fiscal cliff.
Not only surveys but the reelection of the president and additional Democrats in the House & Senate show that the people want the disastrous Bush tax cuts to expire for those earning over $250K.

The layoffs are beginning----sped up after Tuesday's election----good. Very good! People voted for the socialist----enjoy-----we are not stimulating Obama's economy in any way---instead of a tip we now leave a card thanking for the service but--like Obama-Pelosi-Feinstein who want to spread OUR wealth (u didn't build that--my butt) we are sharing you tips!!!

Posted by Danville Independent, a member of the San Ramon Valley High School community, on Nov 12, 2012 at 10:31 am I find it comical that people (who are otherwise thinking individuals) continue to use the ‘socialism” attack against President Obama, and it just magnifies the ignorance on the Right. Socialism advocates "STATE OWNERSHIP" of an industry, something that is NOT taking place. The Health Insurance companies are not being taken over; they’re just being directed to funnel their customer’s premiums to actually pay for services than line the pockets of their CEO’s. Yes,..it IS a social program, just like Social Security, Medicare, our Police and Fire departments, our Education system. Would we advocate eliminating THOSE social programs?? Of course not! In the top 30 Industrialized nations of the world, we are the ONLY one that does not have a state Health mandate for it's citizens, and we can thank the 'profit oriented' Health Insurance companies for that! Our system needed to be changed, and I for one am glad it finally did!
