A severe injury accident closed the No. 1 lane on southbound Interstate 680 Tuesday afternoon, according to reports. Motorists are advised to expect delays and avoid the area.

The four-car accident was reported around 11:50 p.m. and stopped traffic from Geary Road/Treat Boulevard in Walnut Creek to the Olympic Boulevard exit.

The accident was cleared at by 12:15 p.m., according to CBS Traffic. Highway Patrol was unable to comment on the cause of the accident or the condition of victims.
