 | The town of Danville has received several inquiries during the past week regarding solicitors offering to paint address numbers on curbs. In some cases, the solicitors have intimated that having the numbers painted is a town requirement, which is false.
Traffic Engineering Associate Andy Dillard said that while having the numbers painted on the curb makes it easier for emergency responders and other delivery services to find a residence, it is not a Danville ordinance.
In the cases reported, the solicitors are offering to paint the numbers on the curb for a small fee or donation.
Dillard added that door-to-door solicitors must have the appropriate documentation, which includes a town business license and encroachment permit as well as a Contra Costa County solicitors permit. If the solicitor does not have the appropriate documentation and identification, residents are encouraged to alert the Danville Police Department at 314-3700.
For more information contact, Dillard at 314-3384 or adillard@danville.ca.gov.Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
