A 23-year-old man suffered head trauma after being struck by a fallen traffic light in San Ramon on Monday, Feb. 11.

"A semi-truck towing a trailer failed to negotiate a turn from eastbound Crow Canyon onto southbound Camino Ramon," said San Ramon police Lt. Dan Pratt. "The trailer hit the traffic signal there and it fell and struck a pedestrian in the head."

The victim was waiting to cross the street around 1:30 p.m. when the traffic light hit him. He was taken to John Muir Medical Center with head trauma and police are unaware of his current condition.

The driver was in critical condition as of Friday afternoon. Police believe the incident was an accident and don't expect to press criminal charges, Pratt added.
