| Sacagawea, Betsy Ross, Harriet Tubman and Margaret Thatcher are just a few of the famous females gracing the pages of history textbooks throughout the San Ramon Valley. This week, Roving Reporter Stan Wharton asked sixth grade history students at Charlotte Wood Middle school Who's your favorite historic female figure? Posted by Grandma, a resident of the Danville neighborhood, on Mar 8, 2013 at 8:43 pm I am very impressed with the choices. These kids are really "thinkers" and make me optimistic for the future.

Posted by Observer, a resident of another community, on Mar 8, 2013 at 11:45 pm Nice if the first FEMALE Supreme Court Justice, Sandra Day O'Connor had come to mind. Maybe sixth graders don't understand the impact of the first female Supreme Court Justice. When she received her Law degree from Stanford, no law firm would hire a female.... she volunteered to work for no pay, seeing an empty desk next to the secretary, volunteered to sit next to the secretary. She was hired at no pay....ground breaking female.

Posted by Jackie sanders, a resident of the Walnut Creek neighborhood, on Mar 9, 2013 at 8:30 am Thankfully these kids--unlike Oakland and some other areas-aren't being brainwashed to worship Mammy Pleasant. This common Bay Area 1800's Madame was a busy abortionist on the side---killing her race off one at a time!! Yes--she is held in high esteem in some area districts!! Progressives.
