Meet Kaiser Permanente's Dr. Brigham Wise
Original post made by D. Erickson on Aug 22, 2013
Dr. Brigham Wise is a sports medicine physician currently seeing patients in Walnut Creek and Antioch. In November, he will begin seeing patients in San Ramon. Below, he explains the excitement around the new sports medicine clinic and what patients can expect at Kaiser Permanente's new San Ramon Medical Offices.
Why sports medicine?
I love sports. I always have. I played fullback when I was in high school. I had my own share of injuries as a result of playing football, including missing half the season my junior year due to a ligament tear. It was around that time that I thought helping others get back to the sports they love would be a rewarding career.
I can relate to athletes who are frustrated with an injury that is preventing them from playing their sport. I want to help them get back to doing what they love as quickly and safely as possible. It's more than just getting back for the next game or tournament. I want to make sure that we think long term and do what's best for the athlete now and for the future.
Is sports medicine for student athletes or weekend warriors?
Both! I see student athletes who are trying to maintain their skills or heal from injury as well as weekend warriors. Regardless of age it's important to get athletes the proper care they need so they can return to their activities and continue those activities for a long time.
What can patients expect at the new San Ramon Medical Offices?
Our new facility, located at 2300 Camino Ramon in the Bishop Ranch office park, is designed to provide convenience for our members who live and work in the area.
Services at the San Ramon Medical Offices will include: Adult and Family Medicine; Pediatrics; Women's Health; Reproductive Health Services; Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy; Dermatology and Cosmetic Dermatology; and a Healthy Living Center.
Having a new site that includes both sports medicine and physical therapy is ideal. Working together with physical therapy we will be able to get our patients bouncing back to their activities quicker and returning stronger.
