2012 candidate registration deadlines
Around Town, posted by [removed], a resident of the Alamo neighborhood, on May 16, 2011 at 12:41 pm

Dear Editor,

As communities, neighborhoods, groups and parties plan opponents for the 2012 political races, it is important to note the candidate registration dates for the 2012 primary. After the Alaska Senate race in 2010, there are completely new campaign techniques to achieve new representation more compliant to communities’ and neighborhoods’ will and interests.

The last date to register a candidate for the 2012 primary ballot is March 9, 2012. The last date to register a write-in candidate for the 2012 primary ballot is May 22, 2012

District III neighborhoods are planning campaigns for new candidates now to end incumbents’ automatic re-elections. Neighborhoods’ plan is quite simple. The campaigns will be e-viral using the majority of voters in District III that are part of neighborhood e-exchanges. Neighborhoods will declare their candidate at the very last opportunity to register as a ballot candidate or more likely a write-in candidate so incumbents’ campaigns have no target for attack until after neighborhoods have engaged a majority of voters for their candidates.
