Candace Andersen Misinformation
Around Town, posted by Danville Voter, a resident of the Danville neighborhood, on Jun 4, 2012 at 5:18 pm

Candace Andersen claims to be "for open spaces", but as Mayor allowed the illegal Summerhill development at Magee Ranch, which will cause huge traffic problems around Green Valley Elementary School, Los Cerros Middle School, and Monte Vista High. She did nothing to stop this illegal development that will destroy this beautiful open space. She is a pawn of wealthy developers who will bulldoze our open spaces.

She also claims this is not a partisan office so it makes no difference that she is a conservative Republican who is personally against a woman's right of choice and personally against marriage equality. But yet as a Republican, I received in the mail a campaign brochure from her people that I should vote for her because she is a Republican. She can not have it both ways. Be honest and admit you are a Republican, and don't try to hide it to get elected.

Although I am a Republican, I will not vote for her, due to allowance of the illegal development at Magee Ranch, and her lack of candor and lack of honesty about her political party and about allegedly being in favor of open spaces.

I'm very disappointed in this piece of attack propaganda, especially since it's a flat out lie.

as Mayor allowed the illegal Summerhill development at Magee Ranch - lie. That development hasn't even gone to the planning commission, let alone the Town Council.

It's ok to not vote for someone, but at least be truthful about why you're doing it.

Mrs. Andersen is the best of the candidates for Supervisor. Her positions on marriage equality or women's choice are completely outside her role as Mayor or Supervisor and she has a right to have and express her own opinions as we all do. The development approval (or non-approval) process is extensive, involves anyone who wishes to be heard, and includes environmental impact studies that are open to public review and debate. One person does not and cannot control an outcome, which can be a great frustration to developers. The traffic at the schools is primarily composed of single occupant vehicles in the case of Monte Vista, and parents taking their kids to school in the cases of elementary and middle schools. Yes, it would be nice of everyone to carpool but we live in a car-centric society and our kids go to school. Mrs. Andersen didn't invent that, we did. Lastly, a quick fact check will show that we enjoy the largest urban open space area in California, but not surprisingly, most of us ignore it. If a person goes for a hike in Las Trampas, Diablo, Walnut Creek Open Space, or East Bay MUD areas that surround us he or she will find few other hikers out there. Mrs. Andersen is a person who has demonstrated honesty in all her dealings, and is a tireless worker for us. She is a person of great character, and I'm happy to support her regardless of political party. My advise to you is to ignore disgruntled property owners, hit pieces and misinformation propaganda.
