VERY sad someone lost their life, but when a motorcycle goes up against a car, they usually lose (...this poor soul was old enough to realize this, too). So sad...

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the crash had to do with lane splitting by the motorcycle. Even if it wasn't the cause of this crash, lane splitting should be illegal.

My daughter's friend that was stalled at the scene of the accident for almost 3 hours said that the motorcyclist had just passed him speeding and driving recklessly.

It's like pilots: there are old ones, and bold one -- but no old, bold ones. The odds are sure stacked ag'in you, and the consequences of failure are often severe. I was sure lucky in my own 20s, several times.

Sad to hear since I do ride. It is true there is not much chance when going against a car :( Please do not assume all bikers ride reckless.I am here to say that is not true. All bikers are not the same ,just like all drivers behind the wheel of autos are not the same.

Kate,

Please tell your friend that the Police are looking for information about this accident and to report their info.

Stupid should hurt - and it did regarding the cyclist/driver involved. Racing on a Sunday late afternoon is complete idiocy. I've seen guys like this do side-surfing at 75-80mph on 680... Good news - he wont do it again.
