Oh great, Danville is now an alcohol pusher encouraging people to drink and drive. Maybe one of the terms of participation is an agreement to a breathalyzer test upon leaving the cordoned off street premises. At the least that would be a great opportunity for alcohol education and awareness.
I suggest we stop the discrimination against other alcohols versus "wine." What makes "wine" tasting OK on which to base a street event?
How about "tasting" some fine rums, brandies, tequilas and scotches? Or some high-end boutique beers?
To make it even more fun, along with wine tasting, we could have shot slamming and beer chugging contests. Oops, but then that would be the equivalent of Hot Summer Nights...

I like the shot slamming and beer chugging idea. Good suggestions.

Will we be allowed to have our glasses of wine on the sidewalks or do we have to be inside the alcohol dispensary or within its outdoor defined premises? The Police police the 4th of July Parade and ticket or harass anyone found with alcohol on the streets. Can't wait to see if they are part of the graft and turn a "dollar-purchased" eye.
