Civil Grand Jury looking for members
Contra Costa County is accepting applications for its 2009-10 Civil Grand Jury, a 19-member panel that serves as a civic watchdog for the county, monitoring and reporting on city and county governments and special districts. It's a yearlong commitment beginning at the end of June. Applicants must be 18 or older, have been a county resident for at least one year, and cannot currently hold an elected position in the county.
Applicants should have reliable transportation to Martinez, plan to work at least 20 hours per week and, if employed, have a flexible work schedule. Grand jurors earn a stipend and are reimbursed for travel expenses.
Candidates can pick up applications in the Office of the Court Secretary at 649 Main St. in Martinez. Call 957-5638. The deadline to apply is April 15.
