Like mother, like daughter

Readers choose the winners in our Mom-Daughter Look-Alike Contest

Bookmark and Share
To celebrate Mother's Day this year, we held our second annual Mother-Daughter Look-Alike Contest. Our staff narrowed down the choices to eight entries, which were posted online at www.DanvilleWeekly.com. Then it was up to our readers to decide.

The votes are in and the winners are Danville residents Katie Olla and her daughter Kaleigh, 7, who is a first-grader at Greenbrook Elementary School.

"My daughter and I get stopped all the time and people comment about how we look alike," said Katie. She also has a 9-year-old daughter, Amanda, and people also notice the resemblance there. But since Katie and Kaleigh share the freckles and excitement over the contest, they entered.

Husband Joe took the photo. "It was one of those things we had on our mind and the night before the deadline, I said, 'You'd better take our picture,'" recalled Katie. "Then we didn't even know we were finalists until a friend told me she voted for us."

The Ollas will receive a $100 gift certificate to Bridges restaurant.

Second place goes to Alison and Brooke Osborn, age 3-1/2, who also live in Danville. They will receive a $50 certificate to Strizzi's. A close third were Lori and Janelle Webb.

Thanks to everyone who sent in their pictures. And a Happy Mother's Day to all - whether your children look like you or not.
