What does downtown Danville need?

They need a central location for people to meet where they can get information about the town, restaurants, places to visit, things that are coming up, etc. It would be like a community information center. I've been living in Danville for 40 years, and all of my kids grew up here. I love it here.

We have an office in downtown Danville and would like to see an office supply store here. It would be a lot easier than driving to San Ramon for all of our supplies. We can do it online, but it would be nice to go into a store and support the local businesses.

I play music as a hobby (guitar) and would like to go hear music at a nice upscale bar/restaurant. Some of the old joints here just have their regulars hanging around outside smoking. It seems out of character for a nice town like Danville with so many upscale restaurants and shops.

Harris Kravatz

Oracle Corp. manager

They need a plaza like a "zocolo" in any town in Mexico where we can all come down and walk around.

Ford Andrews

restaurant manager

My husband and I grew up in the Danville/Alamo area and he likes what they've done in Lafayette, but I prefer Danville. It's hard to say if Danville needs anything because I love it here so much. A specialty bakery, like a cupcake store, would be nice. Or better yet, having all the ruts fixed on the Iron Horse Trail would be good.

Dear Dolores,

I have participated in several investors' meetings with regional neighborhood groups. Danville's commercial environment has been reviewed several times with Iron Horse corridor neighborhood groups. Reviewing notes from such discussions, the following is a list of needs for Danville to establish a more regionally inviting commercial/retail environment:

#1 - Connection of commercial/retail areas from Sycamore to Love Lane and rejuvenation of Danville north of Diablo Road and South on San Ramon Blvd.

#2 - Larger facilities for anchor retail on Hartz and Railroad.

#3 - A boutique hotel and meeting/hospitality facilities.

#4 - Creekside development including a creekside walkway.

#5 - A transportation center for rapid bus service to/from BART and Airports

#6 - Residential over Retail as luxury downtown living.

Hal, as a community courtesy
